Part of what we do is extend ourselves through service.
Here are some ideas.

At OLMC:
 | Our Small Churches can help to stock the OLMC food
bank. They tend to get a lot of soups and vegetables but can always
use more meal-in-a-box type food as well as canned tuna and meat. |
 | Donated toiletries - even complementary hotel items -
are always welcomed by the Migrant Outreach program at OLMC. Items for the
migrant workers can be left at the office. The men also need new or (clean)
used blankets, socks and sweatshirts (men's medium). |
 | The OLMC Tijuana Outreach program provides food to
families in Tijuana on the first Saturday of each month. Packages of rice
and beans can be dropped through the slot in the garage door at the south
entrance to the church. |
In the community:
 | Rachel's Women's Center and Night Shelter, a Catholic
Charities facility at 759 Eighth Avenue in San Diego, needs volunteers to bring
in warm
evening meals for the women they serve. Please call Toni Catlin at 619-236-9074.
For an idea of the impact the shelter has on the lives of women read
Toni's
Story. The shelter website is

 | For information on helping out at any of the several
facilities at St. Vincent de Paul Village see

 | The Interfaith Coalition Shelter in Escondido at
550 W. Washington Ave. (760-489-6380),
also relies on volunteers to prepare and serve food and provide other services; see
